AsiaNet Turnover Reaches $US17 Million
SYDNEY & TOKYO, Oct. 24 / AsiaNet / --
The AsiaNet commercial press release distribution consortium of 14 prominent news organisations in the Asia Pacific region has just exceeded revenue turnover of $US17,000,000 since it began seven years ago.
“In view of the Asian financial crisis, struggling world economies and recent events in the United States this is a significant achievement,” said AsiaNet Chairman, Mr Hideki Ikeuchi, who is Executive Director of Kyodo JBN, Japan.
“We set out to provide an exclusive commercial business offering full text, targeted delivery of press releases - translated where necessary - to 34 countries and regions in the Asia Pacific from Pakistan in the west to New Zealand in the east. We have succeeded beyond our wildest dreams,” Mr Ikeuchi said.
Every day through a secure Internet Operations Platform in Sydney, Australia, releases are received and sent out to Asian Pacific Agencies such as Australian Associated Press (AAP), Antara (Indonesia), Bernama (Malaysia), Xinhua (China), Yonhap (South Korea) and Press Trust of India for translation and distribution to major media, including press, radio, TV and specialist publications. There are hundreds of online services and databases that add on to the pinpoint distribution in categories such as general news, IT, automotive, business and finance, travel and leisure, IR and medical/health care.
“Some of the most prestigious companies in the world use the AsiaNet service regularly. It cannot be matched in Asia,” Mr Ikeuchi said. "We also have alliances with prominent overseas news release distributors for news going out of the region via our agencies," he added
“It is flattering to us that such is the strength of AsiaNet with its worldwide affiliations there are continuing attempts by competitors to claim tie-ups with our consortium agencies,” said General Manager, Mr Mike Worner.
“A faxed, emailed or personally delivered press release in English to our agencies’ newsrooms, which anyone can do, is the basis of such assertions. It’s hardly a full text, expertly translated and delivered release over an agency newswire to hundreds of dedicated media outlets, as the exclusive AsiaNet service is,” Mr Worner said.
He said there are no AsiaNet distribution arrangements with any organisation in Asia or elsewhere, other than among consortium agencies and overseas affiliates such as PR Newswire - all named at www.asianetnews.net
