The Official Payment Card Of The All Blacks

MasterCard Named The Official Payment Card Of The All Blacks

New Zealand, 5 Feb 2003 – MasterCard International, a leader in the global payment services industry, is now the official payment card of the New Zealand All Blacks, in a sponsorship deal announced today (5th February 2003) by MasterCard International Senior Vice President and General Manager for Australasia, Leigh Clapham.

“We were looking for a high-profile sports sponsorship that would reflect MasterCard’s values, and also resonate strongly with New Zealanders,” says Clapham.

“I am delighted to announce that MasterCard International has become the official and exclusive supplier of payment products to the All Blacks – a team which unites all New Zealanders.”

New Zealand Rugby Union chief executive officer Chris Moller says the NZRU is pleased to have on board an international partner of the standing of MasterCard.

“We hope that this relationship will take New Zealand rugby to new audiences, both within the country and internationally. MasterCard is a good fit with the All Blacks because both are about excellence and MasterCard demonstrates the same sort of passion for rugby and the All Blacks that New Zealanders do,” says Moller.

Clapham says there are strong synergies between MasterCard’s brand values and those of the All Blacks.

“We understand the pride and passion New Zealanders have for the All Blacks, and together with the NZRU, we’re working on an innovative programme which will provide New Zealanders with even a greater way to show their support for their national rugby team.”
