31% Growth In Industry Training
31% Growth In Industry Training
Official figures released today by the Tertiary Education Commission show that participation in Industry Training grew by 31% between 2000 and 2002.
“This is a good result for Government policy increasing the funding and flexibility of industry training”, said Darel Hall, Executive Director of the Industry Training Federation. “It is also a tremendous result for Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) that continue to provide outcomes well in excess of government funding – by 20% as at December 2002”.
“The work of people within ITOs and employers should be acknowledged as should training partners in other parts of the whole tertiary sector including polytechnics, PTEs and the facilitative work of key government agencies such as NZQA and TEC; we should take the opportunity to congratulate ourselves because there is so much more to do as we must do better if we are to meet the 250,000 industry trainees goal and the economic and social expectations of New Zealand”
“There
are funding, capability, equity, and regulatory issues to
square away to meet our ambitious goals: they are continuing
conversations. Today is time to focus on the real
achievement that underlines the commitment of people in this
sector.
