Sir Gil Simpson to spearhead move, new CEO for JADE Software Corporation

Christchurch, 4 March 2003: The founder of New Zealand’s most successful software company, JADE Software Corporation, Sir Gil Simpson, has today become President of the company in a move that signals his increased focus on JADE’s success in international markets.

Headquartered in Christchurch New Zealand, JADE Software Corporation is a research and development powerhouse, encompassing technical, marketing and administration functions for its range of products and services developed using its innovative JADE software.

The corporation, has three international distributors: JADE Direct Australasia; JADE Direct United Kingdom; and JADE Direct USA; that manage the company’s technology products and services in their respective markets. These organisations employ local staff skilled in sales, software development, solution implementation and customer service.

In recent years, a growing proportion – 61% in 2002 - of JADE’s revenues have come from offshore markets.

Appointed to the post of CEO for JADE Software Corporation is Dr Rod Carr, currently the deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Rod has held senior management positions with the BNZ and the NBA in Australia (BNZ’s parent company). He has also attained several noted academic qualifications.

“Rod is an outstanding New Zealander who is committed to making a difference in New Zealand and the world,” said Sir Gil. “Aside from his many talents, his humility, sense of humour and respect for others will foster the right environment to ensure the continuation of JADE’s success and innovation.”

Sir Gil said in his new role he was looking forward to being able to concentrate more fully on what was fundamental to the long-term future of the company.

The JADE technology has matured significantly since its introduction in 1996 and today offers sophisticated and unmatched industry specific solutions for areas such as health, education, ports and human resources.

“A number of new and highly satisfied international clients can testify to the fact that JADE is ready to deliver world class solutions anywhere in the world,” said Gil. “Rod joins us at a very exciting time in our history and we believe he will make a substantial contribution to our organisation for many years to come.”

Mr Carr will be relocating to JADE’s Christchurch office, to take up his position in August, 2003.
