Fisher & Paykel Appliances is a New Zealand based international company, utilising innovation to develop a unique range of products and services for its customers around the world.
Fisher & Paykel’s historical base is as a manufacturer and marketer of whiteware (major appliances).
Fisher & Paykel commenced business in 1934 as an importer of refrigerators and washing machines. In 1938 the company started manufacturing appliances under licence to several major international appliance companies. Driven by a desire to export, it moved to manufacturing products utilising in-house technology in the mid 1960s. It now has manufacturing plants in Auckland, Dunedin and Australia.
Today, Fisher & Paykel Appliances markets a series of technology platforms in “SmartDrive” auto washers, “Active Smart” refrigerators and “DishDrawer” dishwashers, supported by Fisher & Paykel designed dryers, freezers and cooking products. The latest technology platform supports the new “SmartLoad” dryers.
Fisher & Paykel Appliances Holdings Ltd was formed by the separation of listed company Fisher & Paykel Industries Ltd in November 2001 when Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation Ltd was also formed.
In the half-year to September 30, 2002 Fisher & Paykel Appliances had total revenues of $399,877,000, earnings before interest and taxation of $50,463,000, and profit after tax of $33,955,000.
The company is listed on
the New Zealand and Australian Stock Exchanges.
