Taranaki Combined Cycle Outage

Taranaki Combined Cycle Outage

Contact Energy Ltd today reminded market participants that the Taranaki Combined Cycle plant will be taken out of service for essential maintenance from this evening. During the outage work will be carried out to ensure the plant’s reliable functioning during the winter months.

“While the timing of the outage is less than ideal, it is not possible to defer it” said Mr Steve Barrett, Contact’s Chief Executive.

“Contact has made arrangements to cover the shortfall in generating capacity that the maintenance outage will cause. To the extent that we are able to, we will be using all three available units at the New Plymouth power station, and will be drawing down water from Lake Hawea, our Clutha system storage lake.”

TCC is scheduled to return to service in mid to late May.
