North Shore business awards workshop

Good turn out at North Shore business awards workshop

A record turnout at the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards first pre-entry workshop bodes well for expectations of a high number of entries in this year’s awards.

The workshops provide businesses with information on how to compile their entry for the awards plus give them an opportunity to speak with past winners, business consultants and judges about the benefits of entering North Shore’s premier business awards.

Enterprise North Shore Chief Executive Terry Hoskins, who hosted the workshop, says the first workshop was a great success with a positive atmosphere and great networking between entrants, judges and past winners.

“Significantly more people tend to attend the final pre-entry workshop than the first, so such a good turnout at the first one is a very positive indication for high numbers of entries this year,” Mr Hoskins says.

The final pre-entry workshop will be held at 5.30p.m. on May 21 at the North Harbour Stadium.

Westpac General Manager Bruce McLachlan urges North Shore business people to step outside the square and enter the contest.

“The experience of past entrants and winners says it all - they’ve got more potential for new business, more exposure and it’s been great for their credibility. It’s also proved to be a wonderful opportunity for entrants to evaluate their business. The free pre-entry workshops make it so easy to enter,” Mr McLachlan says.

Two past awards winners who spoke at the first pre-entry workshop - Derek Good, General Manger of Talk Tactics, and Steve McNally, Managing Director of Hillside Building Supplies - told prospective entrants about the many benefits their businesses had garnered not just from winning their award category, but also from participating.

Mr McNally says entering the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards prompted him to evaluate his business.

“Just having to sit back and figure out where the business was and where it was going was the big bonus we were able to take out of the awards - plus our credibility with clients was given a real boost when we won.”

The second pre-entry workshop is to be held at 5.30pm on Wednesday, May 21 at North Harbour Stadium. Businesses should register their intention to attend by contacting Enterprise North Shore on 414 1341 or via www.enterprisens.org.nz

Entries to the Awards close at 5pm, Thursday, 19 June. Businesses are encouraged to enter via the website. For more information contact: Niki Hodge Gerard Martin
