Electricity Demand Update
The
conservation effort for the 24 hours ended yesterday
(Wednesday 28 May) was 7.9%, down from 8.1% for the day
prior.
Colder temperatures throughout the country have contributed to an increase in electricity demand. Total demand yesterday was 102.7 GWh, which was down on 107.3 GWh recorded for the equivalent day last year. Although down on last year, daily demand is now tracking ahead of the demand figures we have experienced in recent weeks.
The average daily demand for the four weeks from 26 April – 26 May 2003 was 95 GWh. For the past two days, daily demand has exceeded 100 GWh.
National hydro storage levels declined for the fourth day in a row to 2304 GWh, 78% of average.
