Avocado Oil New Zealand Wins Emerging Exporter Award: Export New Zealand, Bay Of Plenty
Avocado Oil New Zealand, marketer of The Grove Avocado Oil won the award for Emerging Exporter of the Year at Export New Zealand - Bay of Plenty awards last night.
The award acknowledges The Grove brands phenomenal expansion into new markets including Australia and the United Kingdom during the last year.
The Grove is now sold in 250 Safeways supermarkets across the United Kingdom, in addition to 200 Tesco supermarkets secured at the end of 2002. In Australia, The Grove is sold in 340 Woolworths supermarkets, in addition to 200 Coles supermarkets.
The Grove is also sold in the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Korea and Japan.
Avocado Oil New Zealand has a permanent staff of just seven and was only established in 2000 when it pioneered avocado oil production in New Zealand.
Chief Executive Brian Richardson said this export award was a fantastic achievement for a business less than three years old and highlighted that success was due to having an innovative product as well a team of people with a positive “can do” attitude.
“The success of The Grove brand of avocado oil and our business is due to our fantastic product that is not only exceptional to cook with, and a unique nutty flavour, it also has a burn point of 255ºC which is the highest of all vegetable and nut cooking oils,” Mr Richardson said.
“Avocado Oil New Zealand achieved a world-first with its commercially produced cold pressed extra virgin avocado oil for the mass market which was first produced just two and half years ago. Success in export markets has also been achieved by being first, with customers such as Coles and Woolworths in Australia and Tesco and Safeways in the UK,” said Mr Richardson.
