Destination Queenstown appoints Marketing Director
Former Destination Queenstown (DQ) Marketing Manager Mark Frood has been named as the Regional Tourism Organisations new Marketing Director.
Mr Frood worked as Marketing Manager for the organisation until January 2000 when he left to take up a Timaru based corporate marketing position with the then Greenfields/Landbase which has since merged into rural provider cooperative, CRT.
While working in the rural sector, Mr Frood has maintained strong links with tourism serving for the past year as chairman of Central South Island Tourism following nearly three years on that board. He has also maintained links with Queenstown over that time.
Mr Frood is thrilled to be returning and says both the resort and Destination Queenstown have evolved significantly over the past 3½ years.
"It's perfect timing and a great opportunity for me. Queenstown has grown as a destination and DQ too has moved forward with a new structure. I am passionate about Queenstown and since leaving, have been one of the resorts strongest advocates." Mark Frood will take up his position as Marketing Director by late August.
"I would like to get started as soon as possible to ensure no marketing momentum is lost through the changeover period."
The position of Marketing Director at Destination Queenstown carries responsibility for the destination and brand marketing of Queenstown including development and management of marketing collateral, market analysis and research and delivery of the annual business plan. As Marketing Director, Mr Frood will be second in charge at Destination Queenstown and will deputise for the CEO in his absence.
Destination Queenstown Chief Executive David Kennedy is delighted to welcome Mark back to Queenstown.
"Mark has spent more than 3 years with a large corporation and in that time has acquired a new skill set that will be invaluable to Queenstown. He knows the town well and his existing and new skills and perspective will be a great bonus to the Queenstown tourism community. "
Mr Frood moves back to Queenstown with wife Annabel and children Rebeka (3) and Rosie (9 weeks).
