Outrigger announces GM to manage its first New Zealand resort

Outrigger Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Mr Ken Harris to manage the group's first resort in New Zealand, Outrigger At The Beacon, Queenstown, which is due to open in November.

Born and raised in New Zealand, Mr Harris has more than 23 years tourism industry experience and has worked in senior roles throughout the South Pacific and Malaysia.

He was most recently General Manager of three Holiday Inns in Melbourne, managing a staff of more than 300 while also managing the redevelopment of Melbourne's Airport Holiday Inn.

During his career Mr Harris has held general management positions at a number of hotels including the Gardens Parkroyal in Queenstown, Le Lagon Parkroyal Vanuatu and Kangar Travelodge in Malaysia.

He has also worked at a number of hotels in remote areas of New Zealand where he developed exceptional training and personal development skills.

Mr Harris has implemented many innovative sales and marketing programs over the years leading to increased and sustained occupancies and yields, and Outrigger Hotels & Resorts considers his appointment central to the group's expansionary plans throughout New Zealand.

When construction is completed, Outrigger At The Beacon, Queenstown will comprise 107 rooms over eleven storeys. The majority of rooms will command spectacular views of Lake Wakatipu and the snow-capped Southern Alps.
