BP Welcomes Commerce Commission Decision
BP Welcomes Commerce Commission Decision
BP has taken action in light of the Commerce Commission’s concerns relating to three of its ‘Man on The Street’ advertisements. BP accepts that all advertising needs to comply with the Fair Trading Act and not mislead consumers in any manner.
At the first point of contact from the Commission BP voluntarily removed the ads in questions until the matter was resolved.
In BP’s response to the Commission, BP voluntarily offered to make minor changes to the ads to remove any chance of misunderstanding. These changes have now been made. The ads now clearly state that Ultimate is available at selected sites in the North Island and Low Sulphur Diesel is available only in the Christchurch region.
BP at no time intended to cause any confusion. The
advertising campaign has been well received by the public
and we are confident that it provides a strong platform for
further communication about BP’s environmental
initiatives.
