Insurance Broker Of The Year Announced

New Zealand’s two top Insurance Brokers have been announced at the annual insurance industry conference in Fiji.

The Broker of the Year awards, sponsored by Vero Insurance New Zealand Ltd (formerly Royal & SunAlliance), are the highest industry accolade for New Zealand brokers.

This is the first year the awards have been presented by the Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand (IBANZ), a combination of the Independent Insurance Brokers Association (IIBA) and the Corporation of Insurance Brokers of New Zealand (CIBNZ), although each industry body selected its own winner.

The winner of the Vero IIBA Insurance Broker of the Year award was Guy Harvie of Guy Harvie Insurance Group Limited in Tauranga, while Graeme Robertson of Robertson Insurance Group in Wellington was voted the Vero CIBNZ Broker of the Year.

The majority of Vero business is handled by brokers so we know what sets the best apart. Successful brokers share a number of key attributes and consumers are often unsure as to what to look for.”

“When selecting a broker, customers should consider someone who knows their area and has a good understanding of their personal or business needs. They will be responsible for ensuring that you remain well protected even when your circumstances change, and therefore it is essential that you have a good rapport with them.” Roy Kane, a Director of IBANZ, says, “The Vero Broker of the Year award is greatly valued by IIBA and CIBNZ members. Objective measurements in the judging criteria have been designed to compare nominees fairly both on the strength of their performance as brokers and in their professional relationships with clients and staff.”

Both winners will travel to London to undertake research into the insurance topic of their choice. They will meet with a number of international insurance experts, visit Lloyd’s of London and the British Insurance Brokers Association.
