Petrol on sale at South Auckland Pak’N Saves

Foodstuffs (Auckland) Limited is opening its first Pak’N Save fuel outlets in the Auckland area this month.

Shoppers can save as much as six cents per litre when they fill up with both petrol and groceries at Botany Downs Pak’N Save from Friday (19th September 2003). The Botany opening will be closely followed by Manukau Pak’N Save and Pukekohe Pak’N Save, which are scheduled to open later this month.

“It will bring to six the number of fuel outlets we have at Pak’N Saves in the upper North Island. The initiative, in conjunction with leading fuel company BP, has already been successfully introduced in Hamilton, Napier and Rotorua,” says Tony Carter, Foodstuffs (Auckland) Managing Director.

“We are delighted to be able to bring the convenience of buying your petrol with your groceries to South Auckland and Pukekohe Pak’N Save shoppers,” he says. “We already bring the cheapest groceries to our customers and now they’ll be able to benefit from cheap fuel as well.”

Botany Downs, Manukau and Pukekohe Pak’N Save customers spending a minimum of $20 will receive a voucher from the supermarket checkout indicating how much they will save on every litre of Pak’N Save fuel.

Shoppers can then take the voucher to the Pak’N Save fuel outlet in the car park and upon entering the unique code printed on the voucher, will instantly receive savings on their fuel bill, up to six cents a litre (depending on their supermarket spend). The fuel facility will also be open to customers without a voucher at standard BP prices.

“We’ve had a great reception from shoppers who are looking forward to the convenience of being able to pay at the pump for discounted petrol and diesel seven days a week 8am-10pm at Botany Downs and Manukau Pak’N Saves, and from 8am-9pm at Pukekohe Pak’N Save,” says Mr Carter.

He says similar schemes have proven to be extremely popular with supermarket customers in Australia, the United States, Europe and the UK.
