New High Performance Cladding For Townhouses

NEWS RELEASE
New High Performance Cladding For Wellington Townhouses

A new high performance cladding system developed in response to the ‘leaky building crisis’ will be a key feature of Wellington’s newest purpose built townhouses, ‘Childers Terraces’, in Kilbirnie which are being marketed by Harcourts’ Kilbirnie office.

Co-owner of Harcourts Kilbirnie, Antonia Brown said that it was vital given recent building quality issues that potential buyers of any new developments were reassured that they were investing in a high quality product backed by reputable developers. “Childers Terraces’ developers, Land Equity Group are highly experienced and respected across Wellington’s commercial and residential property markets,” she said.

In partnership with James Hardie Building Products and New Zealand Steel and Tube, and closely monitored by BRANZ (Building Regulation Authority of New Zealand), Land Equity Group has managed the testing and development of a new cladding system which meets the performance requirements of the draft amendment to the building code, known as E2. E2 sets key performance criteria for dealing with external moisture in new homes.

The new cladding system is just one example of the commitment to quality at Childers Terraces. Each townhouse has french doors opening onto private decks and courtyards, secure covered car parking, views and all day sun. Granite benchtops and designer feature lighting are standard in all townhouses.

Ms Brown said Childers Terraces was close to Kilbirnie’s thriving shops and cafes, and the ever popular Lyall Bay where a $30 million Airport Retail Park is due to open in 2004. She described Kilbirnie as “a wonderful community with a comprehensive range of facilities including two secondary schools and numerous primary schools. Those looking to enjoy the low-maintenance environment of an upmarket townhouse in a thriving community will find the best of both worlds at Childers Terraces.”

She added that with the median house price in the Eastern suburbs (including Kilbirnie) rising on average by 7.5 percent per annum over the last five years, investors will also be attracted to Childers Terraces.

Marketed by Joy Baker of Harcourts Kilbirnie, Childers Terraces has already experienced strong interest from potential buyers both locally and further afield. Childers Terraces townhouses are being sold by open tender and are due for completion late next year.
