Silkair To Operate Direct Services To Fuzhou, China
SilkAir will be operating direct services to Fuzhou, China from 3 December 2003. The twice-weekly scheduled service will be operated with SilkAir's Airbus A320-200 aircraft, every Wednesday and Saturday.
Flight MI 956 will depart Singapore at 1300 hours and arrive Fuzhou at 1735 hours. The return flight, MI 955 will depart from Fuzhou International Airport at 1835 hours and arrive Singapore at 2320 hours.
With a rich cultural history of
over 2000 years, Fuzhou, which is the capital of Fujian
province, lies on China's southeastern coast. It faces the
island province of Taiwan across Taiwan Strait to the east.
The city abound in banyan trees and is also known as 'Rong
Cheng', meaning Banyans. It has a year-round warm and humid
climate and the temperature averages from 17° to a high
21°C.
Fuzhou is the fourth city in China to which SilkAir
flies. Tourists and business customers will find that the
twice-weekly Fuzhou service will complement SilkAir's
existing flight to nearby Xiamen.
"The introduction of our Singapore-Fuzhou service will help meet the increasing demand for more direct flights to the fast growing China market. It will also help to strengthen and broaden our China network as the direct flights to Fuzhou will increase SilkAir's services to China to 13 weekly," said Chief Executive, Mr Subhas Menon.
Fujian is blessed with a rich history and famous historical sites. The natural hot springs, beautiful landscapes such as the magnificent peaks, cascading waterfalls and streams surrounding Mount Wuyi (Wu Yi Shan) makes Fujian a unique tourist attraction.
Fujian cuisine is refreshing, delicious and slightly sweet and sour. The most characteristic aspect of Fujian cuisine is that its dishes are served as soup. The most famous dish being "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall." The Oolong tea produced in Fujian is also famous.
