New Services Commence, Boosting Capacity And Adding Connections

Singapore Airlines today commences three additional weekly services between Auckland and Singapore, boosting capacity on the route by 32%.

The new services provide a 10:10 morning departure from Auckland for the first time, with a mid-afternoon arrival into Singapore. This provides improved same-day connection opportunities for customers travelling to points in Asia, including Bali, Manila, Phuket, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Maldives, and points in India.

The flights will be operated on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, using one of the newest aircraft to join the Singapore Airlines fleet: the Boeing 777-200ER. The 777-200ER is one of the world’s most advanced passenger aircraft, and is also one of the most popular among customers for its cabin environment and significantly reduced noise.

Singapore Airlines operates B777-200ER aircraft in a two-class configuration, including its world-reknown SpaceBed lie-flat seat in Raffles (Business) Class.

Customers can also enjoy full audio and video on-demand in every seat in every class on the B777-200ER, offering customers over 200 entertainment options, with personal control which allows pause, fast-forward, rewind and stop.

SIA’s General Manager New Zealand, Mr S H Chin, said the capacity increases recognised Singapore Airlines’ growing role in the provision of airline services.

“On top of New Zealand’s popularity in overseas markets, which strengthens inbound performance, the support we’ve had from travel agents and customers in New Zealand has been very strong. This combination has allowed us to boost our services to Auckland.

“The ability to use Singapore as a global hub means that our New Zealand customers can reach points throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle-East and South Africa with one simple and convenient stop, with many taking the opportunity to experience Singapore hospitality through our generous stopover packages.

“The arrival time of these new flights, at 3.35pm in Singapore, provides a welcome opportunity for an array of improved connections throughout Asia. For inbound and returning customers, the new flights provide an earlier arrival time in Auckland of 8.55am.”
