Airline Says “Thanks New Zealand”
Garuda Indonesia celebrates 15 years in NZ by offering 15% discount on its fares throughout Asia
Garuda Indonesia plans to repay the New Zealand public for its support over the past 15 years by reducing fares to Asia by 15%.
The special ‘Thanks New Zealand’ promotion applies to every New Zealander who books a flight on Garuda Indonesia before December 12. The travel covers such interesting destinations as Bali, Jakarta, China, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong and Tokyo, and must be taken between January 24 and March 31, 2004.
“Rather than celebrate our 15 year anniversary with a plaque and a staff party like most other companies do, we wanted to thank New Zealanders in a meaningful way for supporting us over the years,” said Garuda Indonesia National Sales Manager, Ms Deanna Mihaljevich.
“We’ve carried around 320,000 passengers in that time and, while we’ve been through a tough patch recently because of the problems in Bali, we’re confident New Zealanders will return to exploring all that Asia offers.”
Among the Garuda Indonesia 15-year anniversary airfare specials from Auckland are:
Bali $1,099
Jakarta $1,199
Singapore $1,199
Hong Kong $1,319
China $1,349
Garuda Indonesia commenced operations from Auckland on November 6, 1988 with one DC10 service a week. These days Garuda departs Auckland each Saturday and Wednesday in modern Airbus A330-300s.
In 1988 the cost of a standard five-night package in Bali was $1,150. Remarkably, packages today to Bali are not much more, starting from $1,199 for return airfares and six nights accommodation.
Bali is the perfect gateway to Asia, and New Zealanders should consider using it as a stopover en-route to Asia and Europe.
“We are encouraging people to consider Bali as a hub for travel throughout Asia because of the top value available on the island in its own right and because of the short flights and convenient travel to the many other parts of Asia,” said Ms Mihaljevich.
