Two new faces on Farmlands Board

Current New Zealand Rugby Football Union chief executive Chris Moller and Central Hawke’s Bay farmer Steve Wyn-Harris are new directors of rural retail co-operative Farmlands.

Mr Moller is a board appointed director replacing Sue Suckling, who resigned earlier this year.

Mr Wyn-Harris was elected a director at Farmlands annual general meeting in Taradale. He replaces retiring board chairman David Ritchie.

Mr Ritchie who served 17 years on the board including seven as chairman is thrilled with the new appointments while appreciative of the contributions of Mrs Suckling and the other directors.

“We continue to attract high calibre people as directors and both Mr Moller and Mr Wyn- Harris bring additional skills that compliment those already on the board,” Mr Ritchie said.

Mr Wyn-Harris, 44, from Takapau, has an extensive farming and corporate governance experience including directorships with Landcorp Farming and its subsidiary Landcorp Investments. Landcorp is New Zealand’s largest agricultural enterprise.

He won the 1992 National Fieldays Farmer of the Year, Richmond HB Farmer of the Year in 1994 and in 1999 was awarded a Grasslands Memorial Trust Farming Award and the FMG Award of Excellence for the East Coast. Mr Moller was the deputy chief executive of Fonterra, New Zealand's largest company and managing director of Fonterra's giant commodity products subsidiary NZMP, formerly known as New Zealand Milk Products.

Mr Moller will bring strong strategic skills and considerable business and commercial acumen to the appointee director role according to Mr Ritchie.

Mr Moller and Mr Wyn-Harris join John Hathaway, Sam Robinson, Ross Linklater, Roger Barton, Lachlan Johnstone and Dennis Munroe as Farmlands’ Directors.
