Hyundai Introduces Major Price Cuts

Hyundai Automotive New Zealand (HANZ) is set to impress car buyers with the announcement of major changes to all of its vehicle prices, some decreasing by as much as $7,000.

The significant price changes are based on a new price policy launched by HANZ last year, aimed at providing New Zealand consumers with a truer transaction price.

The weighty size of the drop in prices has been made possible due to the strength of the New Zealand dollar and support for the New Zealand price policy from the Hyundai Motor Company in South Korea

Hyundai’s Tiburon shows a massive decrease in pricing, with the price tag on the 2.7 litre V6 manual decreasing by $7,000 to $39,990 and the automatic by $6,500 to $39,990.

The 2.0 litre manual Tiburon is now $4,000 less at $32,990 with the automatic model dropping by $4,500 to $34, 490. The retail price now makes Tiburon truly competitive against the huge numbers of second hand performance coupes imported from Japan, as well as the fantastic new product available in New Zealand.

The 3 Door Getz has decreased by $2,000 to $16,990 for the manual and $17,990 for the automatic and the 5-Door Getz has been reduced by $1,000 across the range to; $18,990 for the 1.3 litre manual, $19,990 for the 1.3 litre auto, $21,990 for the 1.5 litre manual and $22,990 for the 1.5 automatic.

The price of the Lavita 1.8 litre manual has dropped by $2,000 to $24,990 and the automatic by $2,300 to $26, 490.

The Terracan has reduced by $2,000 to $49,990.

The new price changes are accompanied by specification changes to the Santa Fe and Getz models, where side air bags and climate air have been added to the Santa Fe 2.7 litre V6 GLS, while seat height adjusters have been added to the Getz 1.3 litre GLS.

HANZ has also revealed new versions of two of its vehicles – a face lift version of the Elantra and the model year 2004 Sonata.

The Face Lift Elantra features a new 2.0 litre CVVT (continuously variable valve timing) engine, producing an impressive maximum power output of 105 kw at 6000 rpm and torque of 186 Nm at 4500 rpm.

Added specifications of the 2.0 litre GLS include traction control system, side airbags, electric chromic rear view mirror, auto light control system, climate air conditioning and cruise control.

Specifications on the new 1.8 litre GL include height adjustable drivers seat with lumbar support for a safer, more comfortable drive and convenient trip computer.

Recommended retail price for the 1.8 litre GL face lift Elantra is $25, 990 and $27,490 for manual and automatic models, respectively (Sedan and Hatch the same). The 2.0 litre GLS manual is $28,990 and the automatic $30,490.

“The Face Lift Elantra is aimed at being the new value benchmark for the small car segment of the New Zealand market, against competitors such as Corolla, Pulsar and Focus” said Eustace.

Hyundai’s 2004 model Sonata has also been revamped and aims to provide the ultimate in luxury and convenience for both driver and passenger.

Features added to the 2.4 litre GLS include auto cruise control, electric heated side mirrors, trip computer, air quality control system and climate control system.

Improved safety features of the new model include driver and front passenger side airbags, traction control system and 16” Alloy wheels.

The powerful 2.7 litre V6 GLS model features driver and passenger side airbags, air quality control system, power adjustable drivers seat and electric chromic rear view mirror.

The price tag of the 2.4 litre ’04 Sonata is $30,990 for the manual and $32,490 for the automatic.

The price of the 2.7 litre V6 has decreased by $2,000 to $37,990.

Like all new Hyundai vehicles, both the Face Lift Elantra and the 2004 model year Sonata include as standard features, driver and passenger airbags, ABS brakes, electric windows, CD player, air-conditioning, keyless entry and alarm, immobiliser and electric mirrors.
