Stunning mountain, sea and farm scenery in Hollywood’s new hotspot of Taranaki, or ‘Tomanaki’ as it has been referred to following actor Tom Cruise’s recent making of The Last Samurai movie there, is also the home of an award winning fruit winery business which has just come on to the market.

Harcourts New Plymouth Sales Consultant, Robyn Prentice said Cottage Wines on Branch Road, New Plymouth was a consistent national winner of trophies and awards for its very popular fruit wines. She added however that it was not only an excellent business, but offered a very special and rewarding lifestyle opportunity to interested buyers.

Cottage Wines is set on nearly one hectare including a 21 year old architecturally designed home with four bedrooms, two lounges and various decks to enjoy the views of its sunny secluded valley and landscaped lake. “The property has grown with loving care and attention,” Mrs Prentice said.

The house includes a winery sales and office area and is fully set up for winery production with a bottling and labelling room, processing room with vats, and stable temperature cellar downstairs. The wines are made with export quality fruit brought in from throughout New Zealand.

Mrs Prentice said the winery had received numerous national awards for its wines. With about 20 outlets now being provided with their wines, and having featured in the October 2003 ‘Growing Today’ magazine, Cottage Wines was a thriving local business.

She added that initial interest in the property had come from both locally and from out of town. “The scenery here is fantastic. You can be up the mountain then in the surf within an hour and a lot of people from outside of the region have really started to discover what we have to offer.”
