Singapore Airlines To Launch Service To Shenzhen

Singapore Airlines To Launch Service To Shenzhen

From 16 January 2004, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will add a new destination – Shenzhen to its global network. SIA will operate thrice-weekly services to Shenzhen in China, giving both business and leisure travellers greater convenience and ease when they travel to the vibrant city.

With the launch of the new service, SIA will be offering a total of 43 weekly flights to three cities, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, in the Pearl River Delta. Customers travelling on SIA services to the Pearl River Delta will be allowed the flexibility to return to Singapore from any of these cities; for example, they could travel on the outbound flight to Shenzhen and return from Hong Kong. (Please note that a surcharge may apply for travel into or out of Guangzhou).

A city renowned for its phenomenal economic growth and modernity, Shenzhen has a long, rich history of 6000 years. Located at the southern coastal area of the Guangdong Province, Shenzhen has, over the years, become a dynamic metropolis and an alluring garden city, with a population of 4.05 million people. The first Special Economic Zone established in China in 1980, Shenzhen has excellent port facilities, and is a major centre for Chinese foreign trade and international exchange. For the leisure traveller, Shenzhen is a shopping and food paradise, and has no less than 50 scenery and tourist attractions like the China Folk Culture Villages, Splendid China and Window of the World.

SIA will be the only international carrier to fly to Shenzhen. Flight SQ808 will depart Singapore every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 1040 hrs and arrive in Shenzhen at 1415 hrs on the same day. In the opposite direction, flight SQ807 will depart Shenzhen every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 1535 hrs and arrive in Singapore at 1910 hrs in the same evening.
