Fairfax Adds Warriors Magazine To Its Portfolio

Fairfax Magazines has won the contract to publish Vodafone Warrior magazine.

Sarah Sandley, general manager, Fairfax Magazines, says they are thrilled that
Vodafone Warrior magazine will join the Fairfax stable.

“Vodafone Warrior will sit alongside other leading titles in the men’s and sporting categories such as FHM, Boating NZ, NZ Fishing News and Fish & Game. There are a great many plans for the magazine which will be the bible for the Warriors’ fans and it is set to become one of the best sports publications in New Zealand.

“Fairfax Magazines aims to strengthen the offering with a new look, grow the circulation and take a new, community based approach to distribution. We believe that the addition of distributing through league clubs will help support the sport at a grass roots level and provide a good local network. In addition to the New Zealand market, there is a very strong base of fans in Australia and we look forward to servicing that market as well.”

General manager of the Vodafone Warriors, Sprio Tsiros, says his organisation is very excited about the new partnership with Fairfax Magazines.

“The team from Fairfax impressed us immensely with their presentations and ideas throughout what was a rigorous tender process. The concepts and innovations they are working on will not only provide an enhanced forum for the club to communicate with its fans but the Warriors are also proud to be associated with a market leader such as Fairfax Magazines.

Ellie says the revamped magazine will deliver news, opinion, in-depth features and essential information on the game and its personalities in a lively, entertaining format.

“The magazine will be a bigger, better read and we are very excited by the calibre of respected commentators and contributors being lined up for this year.”

In addition to subscriber and retail copy sales, the bi-monthly magazine will be distributed free to the 4000 season ticket holders and the cover price is $4.95. The first issue of the new Vodafone Warrior magazine is on sale 8th March.
