Registrations of interest invited for Project Aqua
Registrations of interest invited for Project Aqua
Suppliers and contractors are being invited to register their interest in supplying goods and services for Meridian Energy’s Project Aqua.
In November 2003, Meridian announced the designer and constructor alliance formed to deliver the proposed hydro generation scheme. The six member alliance (which has been named Waihanga) consists of New Zealand companies Meridian Energy, PB Power (NZ) and McConnell Dowell, and international companies Bechtel, Beca Carter Hollings & Ferner and UK-based Black & Veatch.
Waihanga’s focus is to produce detailed designs and costs for the proposed Project Aqua scheme. In the coming weeks, Waihanga will be advertising the Registration of Interest (ROI) nationally to build a contact database to assist this process.
“Since Project Aqua was announced in April 2001, we’ve received a lot of interest from contractors and suppliers who want to be involved in the project” says Meridian Energy spokesperson Alan Seay. “We’re pleased that Waihanga is now in a position to collect these details to help with the costing stage of the project.”

Mr Seay says the Registration of
Interest will be advertised nationally and is open to both
smaller and larger businesses. Organisations which have
previously shown an interest to Meridian Energy should also
submit an
ROI.
