Director Appointment

21 April 2004

Director Appointment

The Board of Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL) advises that it has appointed Dr Keith Turner as a Director of the Company.

Dr Turner is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Wellington-based State-owned electricity generator and retailer, Meridian Energy Limited, the largest electricity generator in New Zealand.

The Commerce Commission has granted the necessary exemption under the Electricity Industry Reform Act to the appointment, on the condition that there should not in future be any connection or relationship between the two companies (AIAL and Meridian) in respect of electricity supply or distribution while Dr Turner remains involved with both. This is already the case for AIAL's Director, Joan Withers.

In announcing the appointment, the Chairman of AIAL, Mr Wayne Boyd, stated that the Company was delighted Dr Turner had accepted an invitation to join the AIAL Board and believes that his senior executive experience, together with his commercial and infrastructure development background, will provide further valuable expertise at Board level.
