At its inaugural meeting, the Board of Meat & Wool New Zealand on Wednesday elected Jeff Grant as its Chairman, and accepted the Meat Industry Association’s nominations of Graeme Harrison and John Upton as Industry Representatives.
Meat & Wool New Zealand CEO Mark Jeffries, says the first board meeting was very positive and addressed a number of key issues, including investigating processes for gaining greater input from farmers as to how their levies are best utilised.
The recent acknowledgement of the gazetting of the Commodity Levy Order for Wool is another significant step in the formation of the new organisation. Jeffries stated that with the Government’s restructuring of the Meat Board Act progressing well he remains confident that Meat & Wool New Zealand will be fully operational from 1st July.
