Shareholders’ Council Elects New Chair

Fonterra Shareholders’ Council has elected John Monaghan as the new Council Chair at its meeting today.

Mr Monaghan replaces Tony O’Boyle who retired from Council after two years as Chair.

Mr Monaghan, an Eketahuna dairy farmer, has been a Councillor since Fonterra’s inception in 2001 and was Chair of the Council’s Representation Committee.

Mr Monaghan said: “I am looking forward to the challenges this role will bring and leading a strong Council that will continue to further the interests of all Fonterra shareholders.

“My vision is to chair Council in a fair and transparent manner, ensuring that we display integrity, independence and sound judgement in our decision making.”

At the same meeting, Blue Read was re-elected to the position of Deputy Chair.

Mr Read, who owns a dairy farm north of Urenui, has also been a Councillor since 2001.
