New Media Specialist For Nzpa Content Services

Matthew Holdridge has been appointed Commercial Manager of the New Zealand Press Association (NZPA) Content Services division. Matthew was formerly Commercial Manager Interactive TV for Telewest Communications (PLC) in the United Kingdom.

NZPA Content Services, located in Wellington, provides a number of internet-based news services including Newstrack and Newsquest to subscribers in both the public and private sectors throughout New Zealand and overseas. Matthew will also be responsible for the management of the Print Media Copyright Agency (PMCA), which licenses organisations to photocopy material from newspapers.

Announcing the appointment the Chief Executive of NZPA, Lincoln Gould, said the company was “delighted to appoint a specialist in new media to develop further the internet-based services that derive largely from the news output of the press agency.”

NZPA is owned by the daily newspaper industry in New Zealand. It operates on a seven-day a week, 24-hour basis, disseminating news reports provided by both member newspapers and its staff of 50 journalists in Wellington, Auckland and Sydney.

“There is a growing demand for on-line enhancements to NZPA’s basic news feed and Matthew Holdridge’s role will be to ensure that NZPA maximises this opportunity,” said Mr Gould.
