International Success for Kiwi Mum
An Auckland based mum, (Fran Hume), who started her own children’s food business only 18 months ago, was recently nominated for an international food award, representing New Zealand in the “Home Meal Replacement Category”, at the Sial Global Food Awards. The prestigious event, for the overall winner, is to be hosted in Paris in October later this year, and includes major food manufactures from 27 countries.
The recent judging has seen Yummy Tummies, reap international acclaim, and beat 26 other countries as a runner up to the Gold Medal. The Gold Medal in this category was won by Australia, only 2 votes separating their two products. However, this success will see Yummy Tummies feature in 27 International Magazines, and be highlighted in the Innovative New Products section at the Paris Show, which Fran Hume & her husband Dave hope to attend.
The feedback from the judging panel was impressive, commenting on the “beautiful” packaging, which was designed from Fran’s own ideas. Yummy Tummies has attracted a considerable amount of attention for its sensible approach to the children’s market, and from here export opportunities, or off shore licensing may be an option in the near future.
Yummy Tummies is now expecting a strong response, both locally and internationally as a result from this show. The Yummy Tummies product, being quite unique, that few countries had a home meal replacement, specifically targeted for children, and suitable for both home and school cafeterias.
As
Yummy Tummies now also produce adult meals, they are
considering franchising the home delivery business into
other areas of New
Zealand.
