Millbrook Resort Wins World-Class Recognition
Queenstown's Millbrook Resort has been ranked as one of the top hotels in the Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific region by the prestigious Travel & Leisure annual World's Best reader's poll.
The Travel & Leisure 2004 World's Best Awards attracted 425,105 qualified reader responses and is billed as 'defining excellence in travel by rating recent experiences'.
Millbrook Resort is one of only four accommodation properties in New Zealand to receive recognition on the list.
Millbrook Resort general manager Rob House said the result put Millbrook among the very best lodges and hotels in the Australasian/Pacific region and was exceptionally positive not only for Millbrook but also for Queenstown and New Zealand.
"This award is the result of a fantastic team effort. We are a big resort with 180 rooms and a staff of up to 300.
"Our size alone means an extraordinary level of commitment is required to maintain a level of service and maintenance high enough to achieve a rating of this calibre.
"In a town as dynamic at Queenstown that's a challenge that requires a dedicated team effort. "
Mr House congratulated his team on their positive attitude and dedication to excellent systems that he said were crucial to the resort's success.
In the poll, hotels were rated on rooms and facilities, location, service, restaurants and food, and value. A minimum number of responses were necessary for a candidate to be included in the World's Best Awards listings.
"The World's Best Awards always provide significant insights into where our singularly well-traveled readers are heading and, even their attitudes toward the world," said Nancy Novogrod, Editor-in-Chief of Travel & Leisure magazine.
The August issue of Travel & Leisure will appear on New Zealand news stands on July 27, 2004.
Millbrook Resort was established in 1992, situated on a former wheat farm near Arrowtown. It is recognised as one of New Zealand's leading resorts, offering golf, luxury spa, health and fitness, culinary and accommodation facilities.
