Wishart To Investigate Australia
Broadcaster Ian Wishart has resigned from his regular talk back slot to further his publishing empire across the Tasman. Wisharts company “Howling at the Moon Publishing Ltd” is set to announce a launch date for the Australian edition of the popular New Zealand Investigate Magazine.
Ian Wishart said today the launch into Australia, backed by a group of international investors, will take Investigate to around double the size of Metro in circulation, and New Zealand readers will benefit from the huge increase in resource the Australian investment brings. “It’s big step, but we are very excited about the publication, says Wishart. “The magazine will require more of my time and the hours at Radio Pacific were no longer conducive to publishing deadlines.”
Ian Wishart replaced veteran broadcaster Geoff Sinclair on the evening show on Radio Pacific three years ago. Wishart, whose journalistic credentials include winner or finalist in national and international awards 18 times in 22 years, said he would continue to be based in Auckland as Group Managing Editor.
“Ian has built up a very loyal listener base on Radio Pacific. I think the recent announcement to changes to the afternoon and evening lineup allowed Ian to reassess his workload. I wish him every success”, says Chris Gregory Radio Pacific Programme Director.
Ian Wisharts last show is on Wednesday August 18, 2004.

AWARDS: Investigate outshone both North & South and Metro to be named Runner-Up, Best Magazine, at the Qantas Media Awards in 2001, and was again named Runner-Up at the same awards a year later. For the 2003 year, Investigate headed off North & South to again be a finalist for Magazine Cover of the Year. "In times of rampant spin-doctoring and slashed budgets...true investigative journalism must always be applauded"- judge's comment, Qantas Media Awards, June 2002
"Pieces of journalism that make the country sit up and take notice... provocative...relentless...brash, opinionated...tapping into a public thirst for issues-driven, campaigning journalism...taking on the mainstream media and winning readers... Investigate...breaks news stories, a marked contrast to competitors like Metro, Unlimited, North & South and even weekly magazine Listener."- National Business Review, May 10, 2002 "New Zealand's best current affairs magazine" - National Radio, 2001
