Real Estate Institute of New Zealand 2004 Property Journalism Awards Conditions of Entry

Format

The Awards will be judged in the following categories:

Best Property Portfolio Items must have been published or broadcast in New Zealand. Entries must contain a collection of at least three items, directly related to real estate.

Best Provincial Property Portfolio Specifically created for provincial media. Items must have been published or broadcast in New Zealand. Entries must contain a collection of at least three items, directly related to real estate. Please note: Entry in this category does not preclude provincial journalists also entering any other category.

Best Lifestyle Portfolio The Best Lifestyle Portfolio is designed to recognise the growing field of journalism developing articles to meet public demand for news on architecture, developments, design – essentially, articles on New Zealand homes and how people live in them.

Single Best Item Residential Property Commercial Property Rural Property

Prizes

Best Property Portfolio $2,000 plus the President’s Trophy Best Provincial Property Portfolio $500 Best Lifestyle Portfolio $500 Best Single Item (each category) $500

Eligibility

Entry is open to journalists working for, or contributing material to, all electronic, print and broadcast media. Material must have been published or broadcast in New Zealand during the period 1 September 2003 to 26 August 2004.

Members and staff of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand are not eligible for entry to the Awards. Conditions of Entry

All entries submitted for judging must have been published in the period 1 September 2003 to 26 August 2004. No entries received after 5:00pm on Friday 27 August 2004 will be considered for judging.

Entries will be judged on their news value, content, style, depth of research and audience interest. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

It is a condition of entry that REINZ is granted free use of award winning material for re-publication in its magazine ‘New Zealand Real Estate.’

Judging

This year’s Awards will be judged by one of New Zealand’s leading business journalists, Terry Hall. Currently a columnist for the Sunday Star-Times, Mr Hall was the New Zealand correspondent for The Financial Times in London for 20 years and business editor of The Dominion. He is also a former New Zealand correspondent for Bloomberg and the former managing editor of Reuters Economic Services.

Winners will be publicly announced by the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand in late October.
