Cleaner, safer, more efficient fuels

Cleaner, safer, more efficient fuels

BP New Zealand is sponsoring the Energy Federation’s conference on Transport Emissions this Wednesday 18 August in Wellington.

The conference, titled ‘Transport Emissions - Moving Forward’, will focus on the latest fuels and emissions technologies, the introduction of new Government standards and what the future holds for the development of new fuels.

BP Managing Director Peter Griffiths said BP had chosen to sponsor the conference because it was consistent with the company’s commitment to cleaner, more efficient, and alternative fuels, hence cleaner air, better health and an improved environment.

“The challenge of producing cleaner or alternative fuels is very real, and fuel producers have a responsibility to meet that challenge through innovation.

“There is a lot happening in the fuels sector at the moment, both through product development and through new regulatory standards imposed by Government.

“I am proud that BP was the first organisation to bring low sulphur diesel to Christchurch back in 2001, and to introduce BP Ultimate (a high octane, cleaner burning fuel) – in the same year,” he said.

“Just last month we launched the largest BP solar canopy in Australasia and we are currently looking very closely at how we can trial the use of biodiesel in New Zealand.

“This conference will explore these changes and developments, as well as look towards what we can expect to use as fuels for the future.”

The conference will feature experts from around the world discussing issues as diverse as the latest emissions testing equipment, New Zealand’s Future Fuels project, the potential for biodiesel and hydrogen fuels and the health effects of vehicle emissions.
