Franchise Business Awards Count Down To Deadline

MEDIA RELEASE
August 20th, 2004

Franchise Business Awards count down to final week for entries

The Franchise Association of New Zealand (FANZ) is making its final call for entries into the New Zealand Franchise Awards 2004.

Organisers are expecting a record number of entries in 2004, as the Franchise Business Awards celebrate their 10th Anniversary.

"The New Zealand franchise industry has grown from strength to strength, and now accounts for a $10billion+ slice of the New Zealand economy," says Simon Lord, Chairman of FANZ. "This year being our 10th anniversary we hope to boast the same growth with entry numbers." The Awards are open to franchisees, franchise systems and master franchisees from both New Zealand and overseas systems. This year, a new category has been introduced for Service Provider of the Year. "Affiliates of all kinds make a huge contribution to the development of franchising in this country and we felt it was time to recognise that in the Awards," says John Foreman, Chairman of the Association's Awards Committee.

Winners of this years awards will celebrate in style on November 6th, at a black tie event seen by the franchise community as the Oscars of the industry. Last year's winners came from a diverse range of franchises, spanning financial services, food and beverage, retail, business to business services and education. The awards criteria are based on international quality standards that focus on how your business is run and the results it achieves, rather than who you are or the size of your business. Mike Pero Mortgages received the highest accolade of 2003, claiming the Westpac Supreme Award for the best overall entry in any category.

"Holding this title has provided additional confidence in our franchise operation for incoming franchise owners and has further lifted the credibility of the company for our customers. We would thoroughly recommend all franchisors to enter the New Zealand Franchise Awards, the experience is extremely gratifying," Mike Pero said.

For those who haven't entered before, there is also a category for First Time Entrants. Entries for the 2004 New Zealand Franchise Business Awards close Wednesday August 25th.
