Origin Pacific Launches Student Stand-By Fares
Origin Pacific Airways announced today that it is reintroducing discounted student stand-by fares for tertiary students from the week beginning 13 September 2004.
Mike Pero, Origin Pacific’s Director of Marketing said that a return to Student Stand-by fares was like bringing back a New Zealand icon. He believes that students will welcome the return of a lost student tradition and cheaper flights for last minute travel.
“So long as there is a seat available we’ll allow the student to travel and it won’t be limited to just certain flights, like airpoints programmes have in the past. If there’s a seat available then they are onboard, regardless of the day of the week or whether the flight is at peak time or not.”
“Students are facing increasing costs in most areas of their studies. Origin Pacific’s view is to give them a bit of a break - if seats are unsold anyhow, let’s give a little something back. After all, these young people will most likely end up running our corporates, our companies and maybe even our country.”
Origin Pacific student stand-by fares will be available to tertiary students upon presentation of a valid ISIC card and full-time tertiary student identification at any Origin Pacific airport check-in counter, at least 45 minutes before flight departure, subject to seat availability. Origin Pacific student stand-by fares do not apply to High School students.
