High calibre of entries at 2004 Franchise Awards
Organisers of this year's Franchise Awards are impressed with the high standard of entries.
Simon Lord, Franchise Association of New Zealand (FANZ) chairman, says the entries are of the highest calibre ever received for the annual competition.
"We have seen a noticeable lift in the standard of entries compared to the 2004 Franchise Awards. This is largely due to the improved judging criteria process, along with steady industry growth," Mr Lord says.
The Franchise Awards are the premier franchising event of the year, celebrating excellence in franchising, an industry worth well over $10 billion to New Zealand. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the awards.
The Prime Minister Helen Clark will be present to congratulate the winners when they are announced at an awards ceremony on Saturday 6th November at the Hyatt Hotel in Auckland.
"We are delighted that the Prime Minister recognises the importance of franchising to the New Zealand economy and has accepted our invitation to help celebrate the achievements of the individuals and organisations who make franchising so successful," Mr Lord says.
The new criteria are have been designed not just for the judging process, but to help franchisees and franchisors with a useful framework by which they can increase the success of their business.
Alan Marriot, Franchise Association Awards Committee Member and franchise expert says, "This year the criteria have been improved for the master franchisees/franchisors with restructured questions that are more vigorous. It is more business-orientated and the framework has been improved so that it fits in with the day-to-day running of franchise businesses."
According to fellow Judge Professor Gael McDonald, Unitec, there are a lot of very good quality franchise systems operating in New Zealand at the moment. "The level of professionalism is evolving and it's interesting to see the use of technology playing a key role in this."
Award categories are; Westpac Supreme Award, ANZ Franchise System of the Year, Master Franchisee of the Year, Franchisee of the Year, 9 category awards recognizing individual areas of excellence, regional awards, Service Provider of the Year and the Media Award.
