A new
directory of Pacific businesses, service providers and
business people in New Zealand will be published this week
by the Pacific Business Trust. The 132 page directory aims
to be a comprehensive and user friendly resource for
businesses, customers, community organisations, as well as
local and central government agencies.
Businesses listed range from Pacific Island construction companies and lawyers to exporters and management consultants. Pacific Business Trust Chief Executive, Jim Mather, says the directory is a much needed reference tool that also celebrates the progress being made by Pacific businesses throughout New Zealand.
“The directory is an exciting addition to the list of services that the Trust already provides,” says Mather. “We know that there is a definite need for this directory. It will better connect our business people with each other as well as the wider community.”
“With that in mind, we have also invited mainstream businesses, government departments, local councils and all other organisations that want to reach the Pacific community, to advertise in the directory,” says Mather.
The need for a dedicated Pacific business directory is supported by strong population growth. Pacific peoples are the fourth largest group in New Zealand totaling over 232,000 at the last census and are a rapidly growing sector of the total population. An initial print run of 3,000 copies of the directory will made available for sale at $14.95 per copy.
People who buy the directory will also have automatic access to the online version of the website at the Pacific Business Trust’s website www.pacificbusiness.co.nz. The hard copy and online directory will be launched Thursday evening at the Pacific Business Trust Business Centre in Otahuhu, Auckland. Guest speakers included Isaac Tuhega from New Lynn Timber Ltd and major sponsor, Manukau City Council.
