Run The Red Wins TUANZ Award

Run The Red Wins TUANZ Award for PSIS Mobile Banking Solution

Run The Red has won the Mobile Internet category of the 2004 TUANZ (e)-vision awards held in Wellington recently for a mobile banking platform developed for client PSIS.

The company effectively had the category sewn up when judges selected another Run The Red collaboration, with Saatchi & Saatchi, as the second finalist.

Run The Red Director, Ben Northrop, paid tribute to the vision of PSIS and its management team in adopting what is New Zealand’s most comprehensive text-based banking solution.

“This award win is a tangible demonstration of our commitment and determination to be a leading supplier of mobile solutions,” said Ben Northrop.

“We have always believed that success depends on building great partnerships with our clients and partners. Our team worked closely with PSIS and its technology partners and auditors to develop a solution that provides functionality and the highest standards of security.

“We are very keen to see our RED-Safe platform, which drives the PSIS mobile banking solution, used by other financial services organisations looking to provide an additional level of customer service to their clients.”

The company has been in discussions with a number of financial services organisations in New Zealand and overseas and hopes to make an announcement in the near future. Run The Red’s other finalist in the Mobile Internet category was a project undertaken with advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi, for ‘Primo Flow Time.’

The TUANZ win continues a winning run for the company, which has featured in a number of New Zealand and global awards finalist lists, including:
2004 International Mobile Messaging Awards, Finalist 2004 Wellington Region Gold Awards. Finalist Nokia WAP Application Award, Finalist

Ben Northrop said Government assistance through the Techology New Zealand innovation fund was invaluable in assisting Run The Red to successfully develop its mobile banking product suite, RED-Safe.

“Run The Red identified an opportunity to develop an SMS-based banking application able to be used by customers with text capable phones but the costs of development were large for a company of our size,” said Ben Northrop.

“We approached Technology NZ with a request for funding, which was approved.

“Technology NZ’s funding enabled us to develop the product far more quickly than we could have otherwise.

“We have developed a software platform that is secure and, because it is based on SMS, the most widely used and accessible of the new technologies, financial institutions can use RED-Safe without the need to make large investments in updating their own infrastructure.

The awards were presented at a function held on the 21st of October at the St James Theatre.
