Northlands named in cleaning industry awards

Kiwi Income Property Trust (KIPT) today congratulated its cleaning contractor, Spotless Services (NZ), for winning a 2004 Golden Service Award for Northlands Shopping Centre, Christchurch.

The Golden Service Awards are presented annually across 13 categories and recognise New Zealand's best-serviced buildings and their cleaning contractors. In excess of 120 entries were received this year. The awards are sponsored by Kimberly-Clark Professional, and supported by Building Service Contractors of New Zealand and Inclean magazine.

Chief Executive of the Manager of the Trust, Angus McNaughton, said he was delighted the Northlands Shopping Centre had been chosen for this award ahead of five other finalists in the category.

"This award is the cleaning industry's premier recognition of excellence and we're proud Northlands Shopping Centre has been recognised as New Zealand's cleanest retail shopping centre."

Mr McNaughton said KIPT operated a performance-based cleaning contract with Spotless Services (NZ) for its Northlands Shopping Centre. This type of contract was unique and ensured a strong partnership between the two companies.

"It's extremely important our retail centres are serviced to the highest standards and this award demonstrates the importance that we, and Spotless, place on achieving this at Northlands - it is an extremely good relationship."

The Award was presented by Kate Hawkesby last Friday at an industry lunch in Auckland.

The Golden Service Awards are assessed on the criteria of cleaning: occupational health and safety; quality assurance; communication; duration of contract; documentation of procedures; contractor staff appearance, attitude, co-operation and enthusiasm; innovation; and a client interview.
