Trend Micro Wins Frost & Sullivan Award

Trend Micro Wins Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Leadership

Leading Analyst Group Survey on “The World Antivirus Market” Attributes Impressive Company Growth to Trend Micro’s Innovative Leadership

Trend Micro, a leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services, has announced that the company has won the Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Leadership.

The award is based on Frost & Sullivan’s annual evaluation survey of key antivirus industry players, entitled The World Antivirus Market. The award is presented to the company whose competitive strategy has yielded significant gains in market share during the research period.

Trend Micro was named this year’s recipient of the award based on its progress in 2004 in terms of revenue, market share gained, profitability, strategic alliances, customer service and support, and for general market strength.

“In 2004, Trend Micro has achieved a much stronger position in the market and is one of the biggest market share winners, demonstrating the impressive growth that the company has experienced,” said Jose Lopez, an industry analyst for Frost & Sullivan. “Trend Micro is a strong leader in its key areas of focus - protection of the gateway and mail server - and has continued to gain mind share in these markets.”

In order to select the award recipient, Frost & Sullivan analysts quantify several market factors for each market participant according to predetermined criteria such as percent growth in revenue, degree of strategy innovation, successful alliances, mind share growth, and penetration rate of new markets.

“Trend Micro’s Enterprise Protection Strategy, which helps companies manage the outbreak lifecycle, demonstrates its vision and innovation, and ability to provide a robust solution against today’s Internet security threats. These factors, together with Trend Micro’s alliance with one of the strongest players in the networking space, Cisco, will allow the company to continue to gain considerable market space in 2005,” Frost & Sullivan’s Lopez elaborated.

The research process combines information from interviews with vendors’ senior management, end-user and channel partner surveys, and feedback from IT and security managers from leading companies across various industries including government, finance, healthcare, and telecommunications.

“This award is a great honour for us. Trend Micro has always led with its innovation, pioneering spirit, and strategic thinking,” said Steve Chang, chairman and founder of Trend Micro. “These qualities have enabled us to foresee the future requirements of our customers, and enter certain markets ahead of our competitors, whether through the creation of new technologies or strategic alliances. And these qualities will continue to fuel the kind of growth Frost & Sullivan has recognised us for.”
