MPs offered 18+ cards for Christmas

Members of Parliament offered 18+ cards for Christmas

Members of Parliament should have no problems proving their age when buying a drink this Christmas! The Hospitality Association has invited all Members of Parliament to apply for a HANZ 18+ card. Hospitality Association Chief Executive Bruce Robertson said he hoped all MPs would take up the offer so they would be aware of the integrity of the application process and explain it to their constituents.

The Hospitality Association has issued over 50,000 cards since their inception in December 1999. The cards are a key tool in the industry’s battle to ensure minors do not get access to alcohol from licensed premises.

Members of Parliament were also asked to support changes to the photo drivers licence to make it more difficult for minors to use a drivers licence to fraudulently access licensed premises.

The Hospitality Association has urged all members to be particularly vigilant over the Festive Season and vigorously apply the No Card No Service policy, concluded Mr Robertson.
