Ford Staff Shave For Cash
23 December 2004
A select group of Ford New Zealand staff lost their heads today – and it wasn't the result of poor sales results or declining market share. And it was their hair – rather than their head – which hit the floor.
"We've had a great year business wise, and this is an opportunity to have a bit of fun and also raise some money for a good cause," said Human Resources Manager, Barbara Harrison.
"The hair shaving extravaganza raised more than $1500 for the Child Cancer Foundation."
Twelve employees volunteered for a shave – including two women - and ten had new colours added to their hair. Each participant placed a bounty on their head, and once the cumulative donations reached a certain value their hair came off.
"It's heartening that people gave so generously, and it's a great way to help a very worthwhile cause – especially at Christmas time," said Ms. Harrison.
A lunchtime spit roast, served by the Ford management team, also meant that observers were able to enjoy a bite to eat while watching the 'entertainment.'
