Nominations sought for Director elections
Nominations are open for three Director positions on the Board of Meat & Wool New Zealand.
The positions represent the Eastern North Island, Western North Island and Southern South Island electorates, and nominations close on Tuesday January 11. Election day is March 2 next year.
Nominations must be submitted on the official form and received by 5pm Tuesday January 11. Voters in the three electorates are encouraged to check that they are on the electoral roll, says Board Secretary Androula Dometakis.
Those not registered need to fill out a voter registration form by Tuesday February 1 and this can be obtained from the Election Hotline 0508-666-336.
To be eligible to vote, a livestock farmer must have owned at least 250 sheep or goats or a combined total of these, 50 beef cattle or 100 dairy cattle, on June 30 2004.
Meat & Wool New Zealand is also inviting levy payer comment on key issues in New Zealand’s red meat and wool industries, for remits to next year’s Annual General Meeting in March. Livestock farmers who want to propose remits are invited to submit their comments by 18 January.
Remits require 10 signatures of levy payers who are registered on the Meat & Wool New Zealand electoral roll. Remits will be included with voting documents that will be sent to farmers in early February.
Nomination, voter registration and remit forms and other information about the Director elections and remit process are available from Returning Officer Warwick Lampp on the 0508-666-336 Election Hotline.
