Stage Two Of Dairy Industry Promotion Begins Tomorrow

A series of television and print advertisements highlighting dairy farming begins tomorrow. Stage two of an ongoing programme, these latest advertisements feature real life farmers from around New Zealand promoting their industry.

The advertisements feature farmers from Taranaki, Whangarei, Foxton,
Carterton, Canterbury, Whakatane, Thames, Huntly, and Tirau in the Waikato.

“Recent research conducted for Dairy InSight by ACNielsen shows that New Zealanders are positive about dairying with 70 percent of those people surveyed being favourable to the industry,” said Dairy InSight Chief Executive Officer Peter Bodeker.

“However, nearly 50 per cent of people surveyed said they knew nothing or next to nothing about the day-to-day business of running a dairy farm.”

“This next stage in our industry promotion will show dairy farmers from around the country who are innovative business people contributing to the national economy,” said Mr Bodeker.

"Dairy farmers are rightly proud of the dynamic industry they belong to and we want people to know about it.”

Television advertisements start on January 29 and will screen on TV1, TV2, TV3 and Prime TV. Print advertising will start on March 19 in all major dailies.

The "Let's Talk Dairying" programme was initiated in 2003 by Dairy InSight following dairy farmer feedback calling for better promotion of dairy farming, as well as the need to highlight the positive aspects and help inform the public about the role of the dairy industry. The second round of promotion is budgeted to cost $1.4 million.

The programme is supported by a website, www.dairyinsight.co.nz, which provides an overview of the industry and links to key industry companies and organisations.
