New Zealand Tourism Conference 2005 - Managing Paradise
The Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIANZ) is pleased to announce that Auckland will host the Tourism Conference 2005 from the 19th-21st of September at the new SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre.
Tourism Auckland made a strong regional bid and was chosen over other tendering regions due to its ability to host the New Zealand Tourism Awards Gala on the final night of conference in a central city location.
Chief Executive of TIANZ, Fiona Luhrs says the theme for this year’s conference is ‘Managing Paradise’ and key-note speakers will address the challenges facing the industry’s number one export sector as it continues to flourish.
New Zealand continues to win awards overseas as the destination of choice for travellers from several countries. The number of international visitors to New Zealand has more than doubled every decade for each of the last three decades.
This presents challenges for operators of tourism businesses, local authorities, airport companies, customs, the Department of Conservation and others. The conference will focus on how the experience of having a superb holiday in New Zealand can be managed.
The programme will be spread over three days this year with an international market update by Tourism New Zealand on day one. This follows a similar and very successful market update before the conference in 2004.
SKY CITY Entertainment Group is the premier sponsor for the conference.
Heather Shotter, General Manager Group Marketing and NZ Operations, says the company is delighted to host the industry’s leading annual forum.
“SKYCITY is pleased to be instrumental in bringing the conference back to Auckland for the first time in seven years,” says Ms Shotter.
“The New Zealand Tourism
Conference is pivotal to the future of the nation’s tourism
industry and SKYCITY is well equipped as host venue for the
multi-day event,” she says.
