$6 million dollar Northpower line charge holiday
Local Whangarei and Kaipara Line Company, Northpower, is giving a $6 million dollar “Northpower line charge holiday” to all customers connected to its lines as at midnight 15th February 2005.
The majority of all Northpower Network customers (who use between 2,000 – 15,000 units per annum) will get a credit of $120 on their electricity account. Small users (less than 2000 units per annum) will receive $50. Large users (greater than 15000 units per annum) will receive $195.
All electricity customers in Northpower’s area will get the Northpower line charge holiday, regardless of who their Electricity Retailer is.
The line charge holiday will appear on the customer’s
electricity account that includes the
17 February 2005 as
part of the billing period.
Customers connected to Northpower’s lines will save a total of $6 Million on their electricity charges. This amount is what Northpower would have expected to receive for maintaining and operating the lines, transformers, and poles for just over two months.
Northpower Chairman, Warren Moyes, said Northpower is a very successful Northland company. The Line business is one of the three in NZ which the government rates as efficient, with low line charges. The Contracting business is establishing itself as one of the leading electrical contracting companies in the country.
Northpower is well placed to give this amount to their Network customers. Northpower can do its best for customers and Northland by providing electricity line services that are safe and reliable. “The line charge holiday is the best way we can reduce electricity charges for customers in the Northpower area”, Mr Moyes said.
