Speight's Ale House Opens in Albany

This week, the new Speight's Ale House opened its doors to the public offering a taste of southern hospitality over in the North Shore.

The new Ale House is on Oteha Valley Road, a prime location in the ever popular Albany region.

Mark Westcott, Joseph O'Reilly and Grant Lawrie, the owners of the new Ale House are also the owners of the successful first Auckland Speight's Ale House, the Cardrona.

The inside of the Ale House has been designed to reflect the original Speight's brewery in Dunedin, with its hanging barrels and bags of wheat.
It also boasts impressive high ceilings and great, iron light fittings with lots of leaners and bar stools for people to meet with a few mates and enjoy a Speight's.

Mark Westcott, one of the new owners said, "This is a great location for a new Ale House. The Albany area is recognised as being one of the fastest growing residential areas."

"We managed to covet the building from local business man Andrew MacKenzie, who shares the same lineage as Scots-born Murdoch MacKenzie, the original Speight's cellar foreman at the brewery. So, I guess Andrew decided to sell because he always had Speight's in his blood!"

The Speight's range of beers are the heroes at the new Speight's Ale House offering the craft range of Speight's Distinction Ale, Old Dark, Pale Ale, Porter and Pilsener, as well as the country's number one most popular beer, Speight's Gold Medal Ale.

The menu offers a selection of great quality, hearty southern fare all matched to the great Speight's beers on offer.

The Albany Speight's Ale House follows the original Speight's Ale House in Dunedin, The Shepherds' Arms Speight's Ale House in Wellington, The Cardrona Speight's Ale House in Auckland and the Queenstown Speight's Ale House and the recently opened Timaru Speight's Ale House.
