Judging Completed In Aa Motoring Excellence Awards

Judging Completed In Aa Motoring Excellence Awards

A week of intense judging has been completed at the Taupo Track with 81 vehicles put through their paces by a panel of motoring experts for the inaugural AA Motoring Excellence Awards.

The Motoring Excellence winners will be named at a black-tie dinner on Friday 18th of February at the Langham Hotel in Auckland (formerly the Sheraton).

The vehicles are competing for a range of excellence awards with an overall AA Motoring Excellence winner to be selected from the category winners.

AA Corporate Communications General Manager, Greg Hunting , said the concept of an annual Motoring Excellence Awards was to identify and reward excellence in new vehicles and in associated categories like safety, the environment and journalism.

The Excellence categories for 2005 are -

GE Money - Safety

Vero Insurance - Luxury Class

Deloitte - Motoring Journalism

Vodafone - Environmental Motoring

National Bank - Medium Large car

Castrol - Lifestyle Vehicle

BP - Performance Car

Firestone - Convertible vehicle

Eyepro Eyecare - Medium 4 cylinder

Swann Insurance - Compact Car

JD Power - Small Car

Mr. Hunting said the testing looked at the vehicles and other categories through consumer's eyes, with judging based on what the vehicles were designed to do.

"To receive an AA Motoring Excellence Award, the recipient will have to be quite exceptional in its particular category," he said. "We believe the results will be highly relevant to the motoring public and a useful benchmark for the industry."
