Skycity Trust Final Call For Applications
SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust Final Call For
Applications For Funding
Local community groups seeking funding for charitable causes have only a few days left to apply for a grant in the tenth annual SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust funding round.
The close off date is 5.00pm this Friday, 25 March 2005. Trust Chairman Jock Irvine encourages community groups and charitable organisations, in the greater Auckland region, to get their applications in before the deadline to avoid missing out on potential funding.
"To date, the Trust has received a wide range of applications from a variety of local community organisations. Community groups seek donations that range from a few hundred dollars to more significant amounts for larger scale projects."
"Those organisations who are seeking funding to support their community work are urged to submit their applications right away," says Mr Irvine.
The list of successful applications is expected to be confirmed by early June 2005, with grants being allocated to those groups soon after.
Last year, more than 400 applications were received from community groups who sought funds from the Trust. In excess of $3 million was distributed to 113 successful applicants, making it the biggest funding round to date. In total, SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust has distributed over $15 million to more than 600 community groups since 1996. The SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust was voluntarily established in 1996, as part of SKYCITY Auckland's casino licence application process, in order to provide funds for community and charitable purposes. Funds available for distribution are 2.5% of the net annual profit from SKYCITY Auckland or a minimum of $500,000 per annum.
