Navman opens new premises

Chairman and CEO of Brunswick Corporation George Buckley, the Prime Minister Helen Clark, Navman chairman Peter Maire and Navman president of integrated operations Jim Doyle.

AUCKLAND NZ: 22 March 2005.. Electronics manufacturer Navman has consolidated its Auckland operations, with the opening of its expanded Northcote premises today (Tuesday March 22) by the Prime Minister, Helen Clark.

The company has spent over a year and more than $4m. developing an extended site to bring its 450 Auckland staff together under one roof and expanding its R&D facility.

Its new premises are more than double the previous size, increasing the office, factory and warehouse floor space to over 85,000 sq ft.

Navman president of Integrated Operations, Jim Doyle, says the move streamlines the company’s operations and promises huge benefits for synergies across the company from resource to design and manufacturing.

“We are seeing expansion across all Navman product lines (marine, wireless data and personal/in car navigation) and expect this to continue as we integrate further into Brunswick New Technologies – a company set up by our US parent company Brunswick Corporation.”

Mr Doyle says Navman is growing at a consistent rate in line with budget. Staff numbers have increased by over 50 in the past year.

George Buckley, CEO and Chairman of Brunswick Corporation says the expansion is symbolic of the next chapter in Navman’s future. “The company is on track to achieve $400m this year and I believe the goal of $1bn is entirely do-able, within the next three - five years.”

Navman founder and Chairman, Peter Maire says “our comments when we first joined forces with Brunswick continue to hold true. We said it would be a case of business as usual for Navman, except that business would be faster, bigger and better. Over the past 18 months we have continued to introduce new GPS technology-based products from New Zealand, while aggressively expanding our presence around the world.”
